Rack Power & PDU Capacity Planner

Plan data center rack demand, independent A/B PDU capacity and branch counts. Rack power sizing methodology and consultant panel procurement worksheet.

Rack power sizing basis

Design IT demand = rack count × design kW per rack × (1 + growth allowance / 100). Required load kVA = design kW / power factor. Each independent A/B path must support the complete design IT load after the other fails. Planning capacity = required kVA / permitted post-failure loading fraction. Balanced three-phase current = kVA × 1000 / (√3 × line-to-line voltage).

Final breaker ratings, neutral sizing, phase allocation, losses and fault duty require project-specific engineering. Sign in to use the interactive calculator; the methodology and procurement worksheet are public.
